Los Angeles based Jazz and Blues saxophonist, George Matoian has entertained at house parties, restaurants and country clubs as a solo sax with backing tracks and as a member of small jazz groups. He studied music, jazz and improvisation at North Texas State Unversity and San Diego State University.
Working the alto, tenor and soprano saxes he has jammed and worked with Pat Morvan Jazz Group, Jill Sharpe, Mark Sage, Laura Creamer, Nicolette Holman, Rayko, Zenobia, Chloe Domange, Ellen Johnson, The Nomads, Kind Biscuit Blues, Anne Pedersen, Ann Louise Thais, Ike Turner, The Beat Farmers, Len Rainey and many more. He has also fronted his own group.
Carving out a niche as a solo sax with backing tracks, SaxophoneGeorge has provided entertainment for corporate events, restaurants, country clubs and private events at Dove Canyon Country Club, Ristorante DaVinci, Citrus City Grille, Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, San Vicente Country Club, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, MIss Russian LA PAgeant, Friendly HIlls Country Club and Picarelli's Cucina.
Matoian also writes, records and produces music which he releases on his GemTone Records label. He's had music placed in several indie films, most recently licensing a song in a film called Search Engines, currently circulating at film festivals.
